May 2008 - Seven Tons of Aggregates per Citizen each Year

A recent EU report, underscores the role of the aggregate industry as a driving force of the economy

The European aggregate industry is a powerful source of employment and economic development, which provides a significant contribution to the Union’s economic competitiveness. According to data released in May 2008 by the European Aggregate Association (UEPG), the EU aggregate industry generates seven metric tons of arid materials per European citizen on a yearly basis.

Capotex is a proactive member of the main associations that fight for the interest of the aggregate industry, and its role as an economic powerhouse. Javier Saura, Director of Innovation at Capotex, believes that the Industry at large should be perceived as a positive and friendly force that contributes to our social and economic wellbeing.

The leading role of coverings in the aggregate industry is unquestionable. These structures prevent the loss of product from wind and other weather phenomena; minimize the wear-and-tear of the conveyor belt and its components, and increase productivity by eliminating the operational stop periods to drain rain-water and to eliminate condensation.
