Chile´s Corporación Nacional del Cobre (Codelco) has comissioned Capotex the supply of 5 miles of covering for the transportation of sulfur-based minerals in the town of Chuquicamata.
Codelco, Chile´s national mining company, has hired Capotex for the execution of a sulfur-based mining operation in the Radomiro Tomic pit , in Chuquimacata –the largest copper mine in the entire country. The ore has an estimate reserve of 5 billion tons, with a 0.70% sterling rate. Codelco will invest a total of €200 million on its development.
Capotex will provide 5 mi of external covering of its Plus Madrid model (it is made of galvanized steel, it is foldable on both sides, and can be disassembled). Plus Madrid is a contemporary product, lightweight, aerodynamic, and easy to maintain.
The weather patterns in the mining region of Chuquicamata ara extremely harsh, with sustained winds of over 95 mph. The covering supplied by Capotex will be used to transport sulfur-based mineral. Once the assembly process is finished, by march 2010, it will operate on a continuous basis, 24 hours a day, 360 days a year.
