The aggregate industry has taken one step further in its unilateral initiative to protect workers from exposition to silica dust. Twelve industrial sectors -including aggregate, glass, iron, steel, concrete, cement, industrial minerals, metal mining, and ceramics-, have joined hands to prevent and eradicate silicosis.
The European Network for Silica (NEPSI), will evaluate the 2008 confidential reports on good practices carried out by those companies that have voluntarily partaken in the agreement.
NEPSI calls silicosis the oldest occupational malady in the world. With the right measures, the risks associated with this illness can be significantly reduced or completely eradicated.
The key to the problem is using the right covering for each type of activity, so as to ensure the security and wellbeing of the workers exposed to silica dust in the workplace. Capotex adapts its products to each surrounding and every circumstance, in order to ensure the highest standards of protection for conveyor belt operators.
