January 2008 - Debate on Social Responsibility

The International Standard Organization (ISO) will soon publish the so-called ISO 26000, a guide for Social Responsibility (SR). This guide will not include a list of requirements and, therefore, it won’t be a certifiable guideline.

Corporate social responsibility is defined as the set of governance decisions that a given company undertakes to protect the interests of its employees, clients, vendors, and shareholders, as well as the social and environmental impacts that its activity generates in our society at large.  ISO is planning to publish a guide on this very issue during the first quarter of the upcoming year, to which any company may voluntarily adhere.

Corporate responsibility goes beyond a company’s legal obligations. It is a value intimately linked with the idea of sustainable development and the wellbeing of the citizens.

Capotex supports, though its own actions, corporate practices that are both credible and transparent. “It is crucial that firms work effectively with social agents in managing the social responsibility that, ultimately, affects us all”, says Capotex Director of Innovation, Javier Saura.
